Margarine or butter? Medical professionals and leading nutrition and health organizations recommend margarine as the healthy choice instead of butter. Butter has five (5) times the saturated fat as margarine. Margarine is lower in calories and saturated fat. Switching from butter to margarine can decrease the risk of coronary and cardiovascular heart disease (CVD) by lowering cholesterol through watching saturated fat intake.
